Romanian PM: Romania Returns to Normality Starting from June

Romanian PM, Mr. Florin Citu, declared in a press conference held on Monday, April 5, that Romania has plans to return to normality starting from June.

Basically, he announced his intention of establishing an interministerial committee which will have as main goal to ensure the return to normality of the society and economy starting from June.

Today I’m going to announce the establishment of an interministerial committee to be coordinated by the Prime Minister, which to ensure the return to normality in Romania from June. We will begin…this is the first landmark we set up for returning to normality. (…) We need to show the Romanians the moment when we will get back to normality. June 1st is the first step and it has to be prepared.

The Romanian official also announced that the vaccination campaign is the main weapon of the authorities against pandemic.

Also he made an appeal to all the responsible actors within Romanian society, including the clerics, to support the vaccination campaign, whose goal is to have 10 million people vaccinated by the end of summer.

At the end of May we will have 5 million people vaccinated, at least, or 6.3 million in the best case scenario. Those 5 million means 35% of the population will be vaccinated and we will be able then to discuss about the revival of the economy.

The involvement of the church is needed, especially in the rural areas. As the things look like at the moment, we will have the necessary doses to vaccinate 10 million Romanians by the end of July.

In Romania, the church could persuade the masses of the Christians living in the rural area about the necessity of taking the vaccine against COVID-19. This could ensure the success of a vaccination campaign whose main purpose is to help the Romanian people reach the community immunity as soon as possible.

Interesting enough, the PM doesn’t count the number of the Romanians who are already immunized after contracting the coronavirus and recovering the disease, with or without their knowledge, such as in the case of the asymptomatic patients.

The head of the Romanian Government simply asks for patience after in the last weeks Romania witnessed daily protests against restrictions, despite the 8 PM curfew rules in most of the biggest cities.
