Wizz Air Launches First Flights from Romania to Türkiye

On Thursday, January 19, Wizz Air announced the launch of its first flights from Romania to Türkiye. These flights will connect Bucharest, Iași and Cluj-Napoca to Istanbul and Antalya.

According to a press release from the company, Romanian passengers flying from Iasi will have the opportunity to visit Istanbul, Turkey’s largest city. The flights will start on April 4 and have a frequency of three times a week.

Also, passengers from Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca can fly to Antalya, an important resort in the Mediterranean region. From Cluj-Napoca, flights will start on May 18, twice a week, and from Bucharest, starting on May 19, three times a week.

Prices start from EUR 204 and are already available on the company’s website.

Around 300,000 Romanian tourists spend their summer vacation in Türkiye, according to the latest statistics. Yet, the Turkish authorities hope for this number to reach 700,000 in 2023. The direct flights announced by Wizz Air will definitely help from this perspective, and international tourists will appreciate the Turkish seaside.

On top of that, Türkiye invests considerable amounts in promoting the country as a destination, as Tourism counts for 15% of the Turkish GDP.
