A massive electrical discharge storm wreaked havoc in Bucharest on August 23. The electric discharges recorded a strong frequency, lighting up the sky for over an hour, and the wind blew strongly in many regions of Romania.
According to Visit Bucharest, lightning strikes ‘performed’ an incredible display against the pitch-black sky above the Romanian capital. However, the results of the storm was as dire.
Firefighters stepped in when a number of trees and poles fell on cars. Issues were encountered at Otopeni Airport as a result of the storm. There were delays for flights to Dublin, Madrid, Valencia, and Cluj-Napoca.
Other parts of the country were also affected by the storm. In Brasov, the hurricane also caused distruction. The strong wind blew over umbrellas in the center of the city and toppled tables, signs, and flower pots. One tree hit a car, while another one slammed into a hospital gate.
In addition, a Ro-Alert message was sent out, informing Bucharest residents that the city is also under a code orange warning for a severe storm: “Avoid travel and seek shelter and self-protection measures.” However, the message was received after an hour after the storm striked Bucharest.
