Romania has added another feather to its cap, another whisker to its crown, as Nexus, an 8-month-old silver British shorthair tomcat, was named Europe’s most beautiful feline at the Central European Winner Show 2025. The prestigious event occurred in Warsaw, Poland, and brought together some of the finest cats from across the continent.
Nexus, officially known as Nexus of Winter Foxes, dazzled judges with his striking silver coat and piercing blue eyes. Owned by Romanian breeders Oana Pintilii and Alexandru Paraschiv, Nexus is a product of their seven years of dedication to feline breeding. The European Champion title cements Nexus’s status as a top contender and positions him as a favorite for the upcoming World Championship – FIFe World Winner Show. This global competition will host over 1,000 cats vying for the coveted World Winner 2025 title.

Adding to the excitement, Romania will host the World Feline Championship for the first time in history. The event is set to take place on October 25-26, 2025, at Bucharest’s Romexpo Exhibition Center. This milestone underscores Romania’s growing prominence within the Fédération Internationale Féline (FIFe), the international governing body for feline competitions.
Romania’s love for cats is well-documented. According to a 2023 report by FEDIAF, nearly half (48%) of Romanian households own at least one cat—the highest percentage in Europe. This deep-rooted affection for felines makes Romania a fitting host for such a prestigious event.
As Nexus prepares to compete on the world stage later this year, his victory is a testament to Romania’s dedication to excellence in feline breeding and care. With the World Championship on the horizon, all eyes—and paws—are on Bucharest.
