Romanian president: “My objective is to have a prosperous country”

Klaus Werner Iohannis sworn in for his second presidential mandate after winning the elections last month. The investiture ceremony was held in Parliament on Saturday, 21 December.

This is not an average day, though – 30 years ago, in December 1989, Romanians started the Romanian Revolution, an event which resulted in changing the communist state into a democratic one.

During the ceremony, Romanian president stated its main objective for the following 5 years:

My main objective is to build a prosperous and a safe country, a functional state with consolidated democratic institutions and where everybody is equal in front of the law. (I want to build) a strong voice in Europe and in the whole world, a country which promotes its values and its identity, but also protects its resources. (I want to build) a country where the Government works responsibly for the benefit of its citizens and where the Parliament is efficient and issues good laws.

Also, Klaus Iohannis re-affirmed his will of keeping Romania on the European road and within the Euro-Atlantic cooperation, but also promised to defend the independence of the justice system and to support the anti-corruption fight.
