In September, in Bucharest, the first new subway line was inaugurated 30 years after the fall of communism. Now, it seems the investments in this field continue.
Metrorex SA, which is the Bucharest Subway Authority, and the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure and Communications signed the financing contract related to the project “The connection of the subway network with Henri Coandă – Otopeni Airport (Subway line 6 – M6, 1 May – Otopeni)”.

It is also considered to improve passenger comfort and traffic efficiency by ensuring a transport system that streamlines travel time on the corridor served.
The project amounts to an investment of over 6 billion lei (more than EUR1.2 B). The non-reimbursable financing from the Cohesion Fund through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014-2020 is 85%.
According to the Financing Agreement, the project implementation period ends on 15.11.2026.
