Romanian students ranked above the European average

The employment rate among 20-to 34-year-old graduates in the European Union who have reached a tertiary level of education in the last three years was 85.5% last year, Romania being above the European average, according to data published on Thursday by the European Statistics Office (Eurostat). The employment rate is 0.6 percentage points above the 2017 level.

According to Eurostat, among the EU Member States, the highest rate of employment for those who have recently received tertiary education was recorded in Malta in 2018 (96.7%), the Netherlands (94.8%), Germany (91.3%), Latvia (91.3%), Luxembourg (94%), Sweden (92.5%), Czech Republic and Hungary (91.5% 1%), Estonia (89%), Poland and Romania (both with 88.9%).

The number of 20 to 29-year-old graduates from the field of natural sciences, mathematics, statistics and information and communication technologies has increased in recent years.
