What Foreign Cars Do Romanians Buy?

According to recent statistics, in 2021, there was a slight decline in new car sales, but the second-hand car sales sector thrived in Romania.

In numbers, last year, there were sold a total of 121,208 cars, which is 4.1% less than 2020. Meanwhile, the number of registered used vehicles increased by 395,759 compared to 2020.

Romanians who purchased new automobiles picked the top brands are Dacia, Hyundai, Toyota, Ford, and Renault. The number 1 choice is not a surprise, considering Dacia is local. Also, Dacia came up with new variants in 2021, most of them quite attractive, including an all-electric Dacia Spring.

Romanians have chosen brands such as Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Ford, and Opel regarding buying second-hand cars. Volkswagen seems to be the favourite second-hand brand for Romanians. Besides, Germany is the preferred country to import second-hand cars.

Interesting enough, most of the second-hand cars were bought by Romanians from used car importers. This is the easiest way to bring any vehicle without a headache. The other option is to go to the country of your choice – Germany, Belgium or the Netherlands, negotiate with the seller and bring the car by yourself.
