Romanian Tennis Player Simona Halep Leaves US Open 2022

Simona Halep leaves the US Open 2022 after losing the first-round match to Ukrainian qualifier Daria Snigur in three sets.

The US Open is the Grand Slam where Simona Halep hasn’t registered a good performance through the years among the major competitions. Still, the Romanian tennis player was ousted in the first round this time.

After winning the National Bank Open in Toronto, Canada, Simona Halep, former WTA No. 1, lost to Daria Snigur, a young Ukrainian aged 20, who promises to be a future sensation in the world of tennis.

According to Eurosport, Patrick Mouratoglou‘s student stated that she did not find suitable solutions to combat Daria’s firm and agile strikes.

I could also say that I didn’t find solutions for today’s match and I’m sorry that I lost, of course, but my opponent played very well today, and I think she deserved to win because in the end I also made quite a few mistakes. I could come back, there was no telling what could happen, but I didn’t find the right solution today.

Daria Snigur won the opening set, beating the world No. 7 from Romania. She scored 3-0, 5-1 and finally won 6-2 in 30 minutes. In the second set, Simona Halep appeared to regain her game, winning all six games in under 24 minutes. However, the 20-year-old Ukrainian won the match and took the last set.

The US Open is the only Grand Slam where Simona Halep hasn’t advanced to a final, claims the event’s official website.

However, Romania’s tennis player fans are looking forward to Simona’s future competitions where she will perform well, remaining Romania’s sensation in international women’s tennis through the years.
