Romania – World’s Most Holiday-Friendly Country

According to a study conducted by six researchers at University Babes-Bolyai from Cluj-Napoca, based on the normalcy index developed by the British magazine “The Economist”, Romania is one of the most relaxed countries in the world when it comes to pandemic restrictions. This favours tourism.

The normalcy index in Romania is 84,5%, higher than in other countries from all over the world, without including those countries that don’t have such reports: Madagascar, Iran, Iraq, or Afghanistan.

A normalcy index was implemented to measure changes in human behavior based on data gathered at daily and weekly intervals to evaluate how life has changed since the onset of the covid pandemic.

Even in a state of emergency, Romanians could spend outside up to 80.6% of their time.

In other words, the harshest restrictions taken by the Romanian authorities since the beginning of the pandemic have impacted less than 20% of the time spent “outdoors” by people. In fact, in September 2020, Romanians spent more time out than they did in 2019, the increase being 112%.

Romania has administered at least 9,413,419 doses of COVID vaccines so far. Assuming every person needs 2 doses, that’s enough to have vaccinated about 24.3% of the country’s population.

Even if the numbers are not high, Romania enjoys lower incidence rates of covid-19. The restrictions are relaxed and you can go outside to enjoy the vibe of the city. You do not need to wear masks outside, only when you are inside. This is amazing news for all of those who want to visit Romania during this period.
