Romania Speeds Up Anti-COVID-19 Campaign: 1M Persons Vaccinated by March 3

Romania has vaccinated more than 1 Million persons so far and the vaccination campaign is speeding up. The average number of persons vaccinated each day is around 40,000 and the authorities announced they want to also increase this number.

Romania reached 1 million vaccinated persons landmark. Our goal was to have 1 million persons vaccinated by the end of March, but we progressed faster. In March we will receive 6 million more doses, and the vaccination process will be an accelerated one. We’ll have 10.4 million persons vaccinated in September. We’re in top European countries from this perspective.

Romanian PM Florin Citu on the 1 millionth person vaccinated in Romania

The vaccination campaign started on December 27 in Romania and the progress being made so far is astonishing, placing Romania on second place in EU by the percentage of population immunized after receiving the second dose of vaccine.

Precisely, in Romania there were administered 1,641,874 doses, as follows:

  • 1,406,039 Pfizer vaccine doses
  • 77,822 Moderna vaccine doses
  • 158,013 AstraZeneca vaccine doses

There were reported an average of 3.5 adverse reactions for each 1,000 doses administered.

Despite the efforts, specialists consider the third wave of Coronavirus is already here. Doctors and other medical personnel work around the clock to immunize as many people as possible in due time and, as we can see, Romania does a good job in hindering the coronavirus from spreading more.

Stay safe!
