The Council of the European Union voted on Thursday to appoint Laura Codruța Kovesi as European Chief Prosecutor. After her appointment, Laura Codruţa Kovesi will deal with fraud against European money.
The prosecutor’s office will be competent enough to be able to investigate and prosecute criminal offenses regarding the EU’s financial interests. The process by which it arrived is controversial, the government being against this decision as it has criminal records.
The president of the Social Democratic Party , Viorica Dăncilă, announced on Wednesday the fact that the Government does not support Laura Codruța Kovesi for the position of European chief prosecutor.
