Hieroglyphics translator is here now: Google has launched a hieroglyphics translator powered by AI to decode ancient Egyptian language. The feature is available for free in its Arts & Culture app. Users can translate their own words and emojis into shareable hieroglyphs.

Google says Fabricius, the hieroglyphics translator, is the first such tool to be trained via machine learning “to make sense of what a hieroglyph is“. This AI progress ensures continuous tool improvement over time as more people use it.

Fabricius offers three functions to discover and interact with hieroglyphs: Learn, Play, and Work. If you want to use Fabricius for academic or professional purposes you’ll probably be most interested in the Work function. This function is only available on the desktop version of the app.

Fabricius will help speed up the process of collating, cataloging, and understanding ancient hieroglyphs through machine learning. It provides an opportunity for people to learn about, write, and share their own messages using hieroglyphs.
