Football Museum Bucharest to Open Soon

The summer of 2022 plans to come with the first football museum opening in Bucharest, Romania, specially dedicated to all football lovers: Football Museum Bucharest.

The first football museum in Romania is scheduled to open in central Bucharest this summer. The attraction will be housed in a 1,500-square-meter structure in the capital’s Old Town.

According to a press release, the initiative required a total investment of EUR 1.2 million, which will be funded entirely through private sources. The founders anticipate 100,000 visitors in the first year, including Romanians and foreigners.

The idea of the Football Museum Bucharest was born from our passion for football and the desire to contribute to the conservation of the Romanian and international football heritage. We believe that Romanian football lovers will take delight in the idea of this project, especially because museums dedicated to football are an important attraction point on the tourist map of major European cities.

Romeo Bănică, CEO of Football Museum Bucharest

More than a unique museum, the Football Museum Bucharest will feature event rooms, a restaurant/football pub, a cafe, a fan shop, and exhibition spaces.

We aim for the Football Museum Bucharest to become a hub for those who share the passion for this sport, from football players or collectors to e-sports communities. In addition to the investments in location and experiences, we support this project with a team that brings together professionals with extensive experience in the fields of Sports Marketing, Event Organization and Sports Heritage Conservation.

Bogdan Popescu, one of the founders of the Football Museum Bucharest

Despite the enthusiasm of the founders, the Football Museum Bucharest comes at a moment when Romanian football is not at its peak. Romania’s National Team disappoints when it comes to football performance and the recent results need no further comments. Yet, Bucharest needs more private entrepreneurial initiatives like that. Only this way tourism could become a constant source of revenue for the local economy and for the local entrepreneurs.

Until the opening of the museum, you can always find lots of attractions in Bucharest. Suffice it to say that Visit Bucharest, our partner platform, is the most accessed travel platform worldwide by those who want to visit Bucharest.

See for yourself all the attractions you can see once you get to the city.
