Romanian DIGI Group Sells Its Business Operations in Hungary to 4iG for EUR 625 M

DIGI, the Romanian Telecommunication giant, sells its business operations in Hungary to the Hungarian Telecom group 4iG. The negotiated contract mentions 635 million EUR to be received by the Romanian company, following the approval of the transaction from the Hungarian authorities.

In Hungary, DIGI has developed a network of business entities employing 3,000 specialists and supporting staff: DIGI Távközlési Szolgáltató Ltd., Invitel, I TV and DIGI Infrastructure. There is a large business offer to be taken by the Hungarian group, including cable and satellite TV, mobile and landline internet, and mobile and landline telecommunication.

According to the DIGI officials, the group intends to focus on expanding mainly in Western Europe. One of the markets where DIGI competes very well is the Spanish one, but the group is also present in other markets in Western and Central Europe.
