Romanian PM Ludovic Orban Resigns

Ludovic Orban, the Romanian PM, resigns from office on Monday, December 7, following the Parliamentary Elections 2020. The elections were lost by the governing party and from this perspective the political gesture of Ludovic Orban is understandable.

According to the partial counting of the ballots, PNL – National Liberal Party, is, with 25%, 4% behind PSD – the Social Democrats who get 29% of the votes.

In this circumstances it is highly improbable for Ludovic Orban to be nominated for a new term by the Romanian president Klaus Iohannis. Political sources claim that the center-right coalition parties, especially USR-PLUS, are opposing Ludovic Orban’s nomination to form a new Government and this is another reason for which Orban is not longer desired.
