Placido Domingo has announced he won’t be able to perform on February 23 in Cluj and February 26 in Bucharest, as reported by Visit Bucharest. His concert in Romania’s Capital was sold out days before. Unfortunately for his fans, the great opera singer was diagnosed with bronchitis and, among other events that he won’t be able to attend, Cluj-Napoca concert and Bucharest are the first.
Placido Domingo’s performance was one of the most awaited concerts in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
I am terribly sad that I have to postpone at this time, mainly because of the inconvenience this is causing to everyone who has already planned to come to the concerts. The appointments are only postponed, and we are already looking for new dates to fulfill them.
Placido Domingo to his fans in Romania
The organizers announced that following the postponement of the two shows, the purchased tickets do not lose their validity for the rescheduled edition, and the organizers assure the public that there will be no other changes in the concert in which all the initially announced guests will participate.
The artist will take the stage at a later date with the soprano Adela Zaharia and the Valahia Symphony Orchestra, with the Spanish conductor Jordi Bernacer at the podium.
He has recorded over a hundred complete operas. He is well known for his versatility, regularly performing in Italian, French, German, Spanish, English and Russian in the most prestigious opera houses in the world. Although primarily a lirico-spinto tenor for most of his career, especially popular for his Cavaradossi, Hoffmann, Don José and Canio, he quickly moved into more dramatic roles, becoming the most acclaimed Otello of his generation.
