From October 18, the United States will impose additional taxes of 10% for Airbus aircraft and 25% for products from the European Union, including whiskey from Scotland and Ireland, wine from France and cheeses from various regions.
The WTO ruling is a new chapter in a trade dispute that has been ongoing for more than a decade over subsidizing Airbus and Boeing aircraft manufacturers by the authorities in Brussels and Washington.
“We expect to negotiate with the European Union to resolve this issue in a way that will benefit American employees,” said US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer.
