Romanian diplomat Cornel Feruţă appointed interim director of the International Atomic Energy Agency

Romanian diplomat Cornel Feruţă was appointed interim director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) after the death of Yukiya Amano.

“The Board of Governors of the IAEA has decided to designate Mr. Cornel Feruţă as Interim Director until the election of the new Director General,” announced the International Atomic Energy Agency. Cornel Feruţă has worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) for 15 years (1998-2013). He held positions within the OSCE Directorate and Regional Cooperation, Director of the Cabinet of Ministers, Director General for Political Affairs. He was Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Romania to the UN and OSCE organizations in Vienna (Austria) during 2007-2012, according to the biography published by the MFA.
