Romania’s Tourism on the Edge in 2022

According to the Associations of National Tourism Organizations in Europe, Romania is behind Bulgaria and Hungary in the latest European top destinations.

The reasons behind this are multiple. On one side, Romania’s authorities aren’t famous for their expertise in promoting the country. On the other, the global crisis and the proximity of the Ukrainian-Russian conflict is enough to deter some travel lovers.

In the first half of 2021, France surpassed Spain and reclaimed the top spot among European tourist destinations. The top-ranking is Italy, Germany, Greece, Croatia, Portugal, Turkey, the United Kingdom and Austria.

Romania is ranked in the bottom part, tied with Poland, but trails Bulgaria and Hungary.

Even though Romania is one of the most beautiful countries in the EU, tourism is not encouraged.
The tourist potential of Romania is enormous, but, unfortunately, is not promoted.

British journalist Charlie Ottley fell in love with the beauties of Romania while filming the documentary series “Wild Carpathia”, and he mentioned that Romania needed to be promoted.

We desperately need to promote tourism in this country, not just Delta, but the whole country. The government has done absolutely nothing in this regard, it is so useless, it is not even able to organize a government without allying with enemies and others. Let’s talk about having a Ministry of Tourism to promote this country abroad.

From the Danube Delta to the Transfagarasan road, Romania has numerous attractions, historical monuments, beautiful natural landscapes, and many exciting cities recognised worldwide.

Romania’s natural beauty and cultural diversity may surprise you. Bordered by the Black Sea in southeastern Europe, the country’s attractions include the Danube River and the Carpathian Mountains.

Romania could achieve much more in tourism if there is involvement from the authorities. With such a rich nature and history, most regions could be shadowed compared to the attractions Romania offers.

As usual, we do our part in promoting this beautiful country. And, if you plan a trip to Romania, here’s our partner platform to get inspiration from: Visit Bucharest Today!. It is not only about Bucharest attractions, but also about day trips from Bucharest to the country.

Enjoy!
