Opinion Poll: One in Four Moldovans Would Vote for Socialists, Communists

25.2% of Moldovans would vote for a socialist or communist party. This is the conclusion of the most recent opinion poll conducted in the Republic of Moldova. Is Maia Sandu’s party going to collapse?

If this situation won’t change for future elections, the possibility of the Republic of Moldova switching to a socialist regime seems high. This opinion poll comes after another poll offers a rather radical conclusion: Moldovans don’t want their country to join NATO, but also, as another poll revealed, Moldovans don’t want reunification with Romania anymore.

According to a survey conducted by the Institute of Political Science and International Relations “Ion I.C. Brătianu” of the Romanian Academy (ISPRI), in partnership with the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives (IDIS) “Viitorul”, if parliament elections were held next Sunday in Moldova, three parties would enter the Legislature.

Based on accumulated data, the PCRM + PSRM Electoral Bloc (the Electoral Bloc of Communists and Socialists) would get the most votes- 25.2% among Moldavan respondents.

In second place is the liberal party, PAS (Action and Solidarity Party), with a percentage of 22.7%, and in third place is the populist party, SOR (Socio-Political Movement “Equality”) with 8.1%. The rest of the political parties accumulated between 0.1 and 2%.

A percentage of 20.3 of the respondents do not know which party they would vote for, and 13.7% won’t vote at the next elections.

The survey was conducted on a sample of 1,134 respondents aged 18 and over, between January 24 and February 5, 2022, with a maximum error of +/- 2.8%.
