Romanian EximBank acquires Banca Romaneasca

EximBank and the National Bank of Greece signed a 99.28% acquisition agreement from Banca Romaneasca (the Romanian expression for Romanian Bank), according to a press release. Following this transaction, EximBank will be active for the first time in the retail banking segment of Romania, becoming a universal bank.

As a result of this transaction, the EximBank market will grow to about 3%, which will lead to the bank positioning among the top 10 financial-banking institutions in Romania.

“What is the significant difference in profit over the previous year, it was marked by asset quality improvement and good management of a portfolio of complementary products – treasury and cash management products – which increased their contribution in the bank’s profit, “says Traian Halalai, executive president of EximBank.
