The French Company Arquus Releases Armored Vehicles for Romanian Army

French company Arquus is competing for the Romanian Army’s tender for new armored vehicles, alongside its Romanian industrial partners. In the framework of that tender, Arquus has organized a special event on September 21st in Bolintin-Deal, aimed at presenting the vehicle platform as well as the industrial strategy selected.

During that event, Arquus has unveiled its Sherpa Light 4×4 armored vehicle, as well as a comprehensive plan to build long-term alliances with Romanian Defense industries.

Arquus is already a partner of the Romanian Armed Forces, previously providing 16 PVP 4×4 armored vehicles, while some of its Sherpa family vehicles are also in use in NATO units in Romania.

The Sherpa is a multipurpose, 4×4 armored vehicle, designed by Arquus to provide a wide array
of versions and customizations for all needs and missions, built on a single, proven base for increased commonality and ease of maintenance. The Sherpa offered is a modern, new-generation vehicle, which is built on many years of industrial experience, operational deployments on the battlefield, and maintenance. It notably benefits from a new engine and improved mobility, both on and off-road.

Chile, Lebanon, and Indonesia have also purchased Sherpa vehicles to strengthen the capabilities of their police and security forces.

A large-scale partnership, built on the Sherpa model

The establishment and support of a broad Franco-Romanian industrial defense cooperation are central to Arquus’ Sherpa Light proposal to the Romanian government.

To achieve this goal, Arquus has partnered with Romanian companies to provide the right product and offer for the Romanian Army: Sherpa vehicles will be produced in Romania, Arquus providing the necessary experience and technology. In this context, Arquus builds a complete industrial team, which works shoulder to shoulder to offer the best solution for Romania.

Advanced cooperation discussions are carried out in several areas, including but not limited to the manufacture of armored bodies, automotive components and equipment, integration of communication / C4i systems, optronics, fire control systems, RCWS, warning, and CBRN protection, electronic warfare.
