Ursula von der Leyen Presents in Bucharest the Evaluation of Romania’s Recovery and Resilience Plan

Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, makes an official visit to Bucharest where she already met President Klaus Iohannis and Prime Minister Florin Citu.

The reason for the visit is to present the evaluation of Romania’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan. The plan was sent back and forth between the Romanian Government and the European Commission, the last one considering it not satisfactory to get the approval.

Romania is to receive around B 30 EUR if the plan is approved. The money should be spent until 2026. Part of the money is coming as soft loans, while another part is coming as grants

So far 12 member states have had their plans approved, but Romania’s still pending. The visit of the president of the European Commission to Bucharest is expected to offer a long-awaited endorsement of the plan.
