As we all know, from January 1st, UK is becoming a third party state in relation with the EU states, including Romania. The negotiations for a soft Brexit, meaning a regulated one, are in their final phase, but a no-deal Brexit is the most probable at the moment, as no agreement is going to be reached until January 1st 2021.

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated clearly that Romanians won’t need a visa when entering the UK from January 1st, but there are some rules to be applied:

NO VISA for short entries, such as for travel purpose or up to 6 months

VISA IS REQUIRED when the Romanian citizen wants to work or study in the UK or to stay there more than 6 months

NO PASSPORT REQUIRED for entries before September 30 2021, but after that the passport is required for all entries, disregard of the purpose.

The negotiations for a regulated Brexit will definitely continue after January 1st, as both the EU and the UK want to solve the remaining chapter, fishing. One can find more about why fishing is so important to British people by reading the BBC post on the issue.

There is no secret anymore – the lohn system allows clothing manufacturers all over the world, especially in the underdeveloped or developing countries, to offer jobs and to continue their activity even during the harshest times.

The advantages of lohn for a developing country like Romania are obvious: the orders were plenty, coming from big players from the Western markets such as UK, and the money was good enough for the thousands of workers within the factories to have a secured job. All the big players in the clothing industry use low paid workers from Romania and other low income countries to secure their orders. The low paid workers were happy, the factory owners were happy and the big players were also happy.

Not anymore.

The insolvency of Arcadia and the bankruptcy of Debenhams mean not only trouble for the two British giants, but also for thousands of Romanians who were manufacturing for the two companies established in UK.

According to specialists, over 50 Romanian factories and 10,000 employees are left without orders and will meet hard times for survival. The news came in an already difficult period, while the Coronacrisis is hitting more and more industries.

There is little chance for the Romanian factories to be helped in any way by the Government, as it happened with other companies during the pandemic, for obvious reasons.

Rare books stolen from UK were found in Romania. The books have historical importance and they are unique in the world. Some of them contained works of Galileo Galilei and Isaac Newton from the 17th century, but also works of the Spanish painter Francisco Goya from the 18th century.

The Romanian suspects for committing these thefts, which took place between 2017-2019 in Feltham, near London, are in the custody of the British Police, in the pre-trial detention. The searches were conducted on the Romanian territory following the mutual cooperation treaties between the British and the Romanian law enforcement agencies.

The value of the books found in Romania is estimated to be 2.5 million pounds.

UPDATE July 16: Mircea Negulescu, the prosecutor cu investigated former Romanian PM Victor Ponta over Tony Blair’s visit to Romaina, was released under judicial supervision for 60 days.

Former Romanian PM Victor Ponta was accused in 2016 by the Romanian anti-corruption prosecutors for allegedly offering a seat in the Parliament to a local businessman who covered the costs of Tony Blair’s visit to Romania. The accusations were made after in 2012 Tony Blair came to Romania at the invitation of an NGO.

So far no evidence showed that Victor Ponta is guilty of any wrongdoing in the case. This is why, the special department within the Ministry of Justice started investigating the behavior of the prosecutor appointed for that case.

Thus, Mircea Negulescu, the prosecutor who investigated the former Romanian PM case, was arrested on Wednesday, July 15, for falsifying evidence against the former Romanian PM. He is accused for unlawful investigation and he will appear in court on Thursday, July 16. If judges consider the case against him is solid enough, the prosecutor will be arrested for up to 30 days.

Mircea Negulescu was very close to Laura Codruta Kovesi, the current European Public Prosecutor and the former head of the Romanian anti-corruption prosecutors.

If you worked in the construction sector in the UK, or you are still working here as a construction worker, you have to know how to claim back some of the taxes paid during the financial year that just ended. So, if you are self-employed in construction industry, the authorized accountants in UK can help you get your Tax Return CIS!

Starting from April 6, construction workers from UK have been claiming their taxes back. Have you filed for Tax Return CIS already?

Tax Return CIS in UK

If you work or worked in the UK, you can get the payroll tax, meaning tax paid in addition to the state (even 100%). The amounts recovered can reach several thousand pounds, and therefore it is worth claiming this money. You will need the P45 or P60 tax return (a centralized document of taxes paid) issued by each of your UK employers (or, if you don’t have them – payslips payrolls).

What is the fine if a self-employed person does not close his financial year?

“A self-employed person must keep a rigorous record of documents, such as payslips, invoices, vouchers from expenses incurred in the interest of service, bank statements. All of these must be kept for at least five years because they can be requested by the HMRC even for a period of up to five years ago. The fines have become very high since last year, if you do not present these documents when requested by the authorities.
If you are employed, your company retain from your salary exactly how much you owe as taxes, and in case you have expenses in the interest of service, the company is obliged to reimburse you. If you are self employed, you have a tax return until October 31st if you send them on the paper form or until January 31st if you send them online. If you exceed this date (even one day), the initial fine is £100. If you exceed 3 months, the fine is £10 per day until you submit the form. If it’s 6 months and you haven’t sent it, the fine is £300″, declared Roxana Popa, EuroWin Solutions manager for Valahia News.

Do you want to apply for Tax Return CIS in UK?

EuroWin Solutions is an accountant company headquartered in London. They have offer Professional Accounting Services, Tax Advice and Expert Immigration Services to more than 30,000 clients so far.

EuroWin Solutions guarantees you get the maximum Tax Refund allowed by law in your case, in the fastest time possible and always in accordance with HMRC guidelines. The company work with thousands of construction workers every year, and they are ready to help you, too.

As compared to other companies on the market, they offer you the guarantee of law compliance, meaning you are sure the percentage of taxes they get back for you are within the maximum allowed by the British law. You don’t have to worry for later possible tax investigations from HMRC or other legal procedures alike. Other companies might claim back more taxes, but the procedures are liable for further investigations from the British authorities.

The quality of their services is proven by their high customer satisfaction. Also, they guarantee to deliver a high-quality service from a team of dedicated personnel who are experts in their fields.

Their fees are calculated on a fixed fee basis, so you know up front how much it will be, for the services you require.

Prince Charles is a close friend of Romanians. He visited Romania on several occasions, he presented the Transylvanian beauties to the world and campaigned for preserving the forests and the villages exactly as they are. In fact, he even invested in a Transylvanian village which he wants it to be preserved the way it is. The village is open to the international and Romanian tourists alike and tells everyone getting here about the care of Prince Charles for this part of the country.

On Easter he sent a video message to the Romanian people, expressing his wish to get back to Romania as soon as the pandemic is over, but also expressing his wish of meeting members of the Romanian community from the UK.

Here is the full message of the Prince of Wales to the Romanians on Easter Holiday:

Ladies and Gentlemen,

As Romanians everywhere celebrate Orthodox Easter, I do just want you all to know how much I’m thinking of you at this most holy time of the year.

Easter, of course, is usually a time when people come together, to worship together and to renew their bonds of community and of faith. Many Romanians in the United Kingdom, would, I know, have hoped to return to Romania for Easter and to be reunited with their families and their friends.

This year, in the midst of this dreadful pandemic, with which we’re all faced, non of the usual ways are possible. This is very hard for us all, I know, but particularly for those who are so far apart from those they love.

At the same time I know just how many Romanians in the United Kingdom are playing an indispensable role in our national health service, in our care homes, and in other key roles as we address this unprecedented public health crisis. We owe them an immense debt of gratitude and I can hardly say how much their remarkable efforts are appreciated by us all.

For my part, I should greatly look forward to some point of the future to returning to Romania, a country which holds such a special place in my heart, as well as to meeting members of the Romanian community in this country once again.

Until then, I can only wish you all a very happy Easter and to say how much you are in my special thoughts and prayers.

Hristos a Înviat!

Globalization exposes us all to online content available in an increasing number of languages. We expect translation technology to help us lower language barriers. In the past few years, translation technology – covering a broad range of categories – has become a very interesting and dynamic sector for innovators from both inside and outside the industry: new tools, platforms and solutions promising to improve our multilingual capacity have been developed non-stop.

	Founded
in May 2009 in Florida, United States,
Translation AZ
is a fast-growing
professional translation agency with
offices in both USA and UK.

Translation AZ offers fast, accurate and reliable translation and interpreting services, covering almost 100 languages, to both individual clients and businesses. With an experience of over 10 years în the translation industry, Translation AZ is known for building strong and long-lasting relationships with their clients.

,,At Translation AZ we provide our clients with excellent quality and we achieve excellent results by offering some of the most competitive rates in the industry. This gives our translation agency the skills and experience in order to tackle a wide range of interpretation, localisation and translation services with impeccable accuracy. Over the years, we have learned to prioritize the needs of our clients in order to offer the most accurate and professional document translation services. Over time, the customers have appreciated us for the most important value of our translation agency: the native translators. We managed to bring together a wonderful mix of foreign people who share the knowledge and resources for accurate translations.

Our flexible approach allows us to shape our services around each and every individual request. We are well aware of the fact that our clients are busy people who often need a translation as part of a bigger objective. This is where we come in, and where our team of specialists execute the most effective solution, ensuring that you are met with the best possible outcome.” said Andreea Saramet, Translation AZ manager.

What will happen with the translation industry in UK after Brexit?

It is well known that Brexit will have an impact on everybody who lives in the UK. But when we think about the translation industry, language service providers may still see an increase in translation work, especially during the interim period before Britain leaves the EU. In itself, Brexit means documents by the thousands will need translation, including treaties, agreements, commentaries and laws.

It
is predicted
that economic and legal texts will form the bulk of translation
requirements as Britain and the EU community need to establish new
operating and cooperation rules.

,,The uncertain outcome of the UK no longer being a part of the European Union has led to many business and industrial sectors worrying about their future on the global markets. In terms of the translation industry’s future, many experts have said that language translation will still be in high demand and that the translation industry, in general, is not expected to suffer from Brexit. This is why we decided to enter the British market at this very moment” said Andreea Saramet, Translation AZ manager.

Brexit may also affect the entry of many immigrants into the United Kingdom. If the UK introduces new procedures, professional translators will have their hands full.

There will be an increase in the demand for translating all relevant documents and certificates required to allow immigrants to stay in the country. The professional translators from Translation AZ are certified and ready to deliver the best quality translation in the original formatting after thorough proofreading.

Professional translation services in the UK

Being located in London, the business centre of Europe, Translation AZ – UK branch team has a vast experience in translating a wide range of content types and has one of the most competitive rates in the translation industry. The professional translators from Translation AZ have the necessary training and excellent knowledge of the target languages in order to deliver the best translation services in the UK.

Following Brexit, some European Union member states announced they won’t extradite their criminals to UK during the 11 months transition period. Austria, Germany and Slovenia made the announcement, as these countries have a specific provision in the Constitution which says no national citizen can be extradite to a non-EU country.

More likely, these countries have to change their Constitutions, as in this case a separate treaty with the UK can’t overpass the national law. It means that an Austrian, a German or a Slovenian might commit a crime in UK and flee back to their native country and escape unpunished.

Romanian minister of Justice announced Brexit doesn’t affect the cooperation between Romania and UK regarding the extradition processes. Mr. Catalin Predoiu stated that even if UK does’t apply anymore the European procedures, there still are in power the judicial cooperation treaties between the two countries.

Romania is still waiting for the British authorities to extradite two Romanian persons from UK, namely Puiu Popoviciu and Alexander Adamescu, the last one the son of a controversial Romanian businessman. These two are known to live in the UK and the Romanian authorities have issued international warrants for them.

Brexit has started the process of negotiations which are to take place between the EU member countries and UK. While UK has the upper hand now, by having all the liberty needed for negotiating the conditions desired to impose to other citizens, including Europeans, all the other European countries look for getting an advantage out of the negotiations.

Romania’s Foreign Minister, Mr. Bogdan Aurescu, an experienced diplomat and negotiator, asked UK to apply the same regime for all the European Union members. This approach is definitely the best for countries such as Romania or even Bulgaria, two of the states who were subjects of a massive campaign of manipulating British citizens – do you remember the “Romanian invasion” before the Free Movement Act in January 2014? There were no invasion, but a lot of tabloid newspapers were sold at that time.

Will UK apply the same regime to all the EU countries, or will it negotiate separately with each and every one of them? At this moment, nobody could predict the outcome of this year, the last one UK has to maintain the same regime as the existing one. One thing is for granted: both UK and the EU member states have to sit down at the negotiation table and find the proper solutions for all the parties involved in this process.

Romania has 450,000 nationals living in the UK, out of which 435,000 applied for a residency through the pre-settle or settle status.
