Simona Halep Wins WTA Tournament in Rome

Romanian tennis player Simona Halep wins the WTA tournament in Rome, Internazionali BNL d’Italia. The Romanian was leading 6-0, 2-1 when the defending champ Karolina Pliskova was forced to retire because a left thigh injury.

Simona Halep won her first tournament in Rome. Also, she gained 900 points in the WTA rankings and 205,190 euros. Simona is in an outstanding shape as she is at her third final tournament won in a row this year, after she was also victorious in Dubai and Prague.

Both players are looking forward Roland Garros, where Simona won the trophy in 2018. The French open is due to start on September 28th. If Simona wins at Roland Garros, she becomes once again the top tennis player in the WTA rankings.
