Today is the National Flag Day, which has been celebrated since 1848, when the revolutionary government decreed the tricolor as a flag of all Romanians.
The National Flag Day is marked by the public authorities and the other state institutions by organizing educational programs and events, dedicated to the country`s history, as well as by specific military ceremonies organized in the units of the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The Romanian Constitution of 1991 states that the tricolor flag is a national symbol alongside the coat of arms, seal and hymn.
