First Cases of Omicron in Romania

First cases of the Omicron variant are confirmed in Romania. One woman and one man who recently returned from South Africa have the new variant of SARS – CoV2. Notably, both are vaccinated.

The two were on the same plane, with the rugby players returning to Romania on November 30.

Both patients are in quarantine, at home, without any symptoms. The woman is 48, while the man is 59. They live in different areas of the country, the first in Brasov county, the second in Vaslui.

Apart from these two patients, there is a third one, a rugby player from the team that took part in the tournament in South Africa, whose analyses aren’t yet ready.

To be updated.
