New head of ANPC about the real double standard

The new head of Romanian National Authority for Consumer Protection says that the true double European standard means the fact that Romania does not have the same chance in front of Europeans to be able to place Romanian goods on the EU market.

The real double food standard is the fact that Romania does not have the same chance in front of Europeans to be able to place Romanian goods on the EU market, according to the new president of the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC), Horia Constantinescu. “The double standard refers not just to labeling, but also to the approach, the legislative one included,” said Constantinescu, who gave the example of the fish freshness term, which is 48 hours for Romanian fish, but can be no less than 21 days for fish imported from Italy. “This is obviously about food test reports we consider to be lamentable at this moment,” said Constantinescu.

“We must eliminate this type of double standard, to have a different approach for products that can leave the Romanian market on the European market”, declared Horia Constantinescu.
