Romania Introduces Mandatory Wearing of Masks in Public Spaces from Aug 1

Because the Romanian authorities lost control of the pandemic, new restrictions are introduced from August 1. Thus, Romania introduces the mandatory wearing of the mask in all public spaces starting from the first day of August.

The measure is to be taken only following justified decisions of the local authorities, which can also take preventive measures for whole areas or regions, such as cities, villages or counties. A few counties in Romania already took the decision and the citizens living or travelling there have to wear masks in public spaces in certain areas or between certain hours.

The measure could be instated in crowded public spaces such as public markets, food markets or even seafronts during specific crowded hours.

All the other preventive measures taken before, such as wearing masks indoors and when in public transport vehicles, remain mandatory.
