Les Films de Cannes à Bucharest Is NOT Canceled Despite the Pandemic

Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest, already in its 11th edition, is reorganizing its program so that film lovers can enjoy the cinematic novelties, just like before.

In order to comply with the new measures imposed by SARS-COV2,  Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest will take place between October 23 and November 1, both online, outdoors, and drive-in.

Although the calendar of events is not yet fully finalized, the announcement that the long-awaited movies will be shown at Cinema Drive-in in Event Park Snagov has been made. Thus, for six days, starting with November 23, on the 112sqm screen will run movies such as Le discours directed by Laurent Tirard, The Truth by Hirokazu Koreeda, Another Round signed by Thomas Vinterberg, Mandibules by Quentin Dupieux, the long-awaited True Mothers signed by Naomi Kawase and Sweat directed by Magnus Von Horn.

This year, the special guest is Naomi Kawase. The Japanese director has stood out since 1997 when she became the youngest director to receive the Camera d’Or Award for her film Suzaku.

True Mothers, the director’s latest film, comes for the national premiere at the 11th edition of Les Films de Cannes à Bucharest, after the world premiere in Toronto and the presence in the selection in San Sebastian. Thus, the spectators from Bucharest will be among the first in the world to be able to watch the film, a visual adaptation of Mizuki Tsujimura’s 2015 novel.

During the festival, Naomi Kawase will give a masterclass broadcast live via Zoom, on the big screen, in which she will talk about how she works on her films but also about the way she sees this art.

The organizers will come with information about the full program.
