Alphabet, the company which developed the mainly used search engine in the world, Google, has plans to open an advanced research and development center in Bucharest next year. The plans include renting 1000 sqm of A class space in the city center and hiring 50 programmers and data specialists.
At the moment, the company has a small presence in Romania, of up to 15 employees, but, following the acquisition of Fitbit, the U.S. fitness wearables producer, for USD 2,1 B, Google Romania will enhance its presence, as Fitbit had in Bucharest its largest research and development team in Europe.
