Former President Traian Băsescu called on the European Parliament, AFET and the European Commission to launch a debate on the solutions for the European Union to become a global power pole such as the US, China and the Russian Federation.
He posted on his Facebook page a summary of the speeches from the European Parliament, including his opinion on the evolution of the EU. “In recent years, the European Union has become less and less relevant in global foreign policy and in participating in decisions that influence the world.” said Traian Băsescu.
“In the absence of such an objective, the European Union risks becoming an area that takes over the effects of globalization and not an economic and political power that participates in decisions on globalization developments. The 500 million Europeans need a Union that has a ,,unique voice” the former president wrote on his Facebook page.
