Eurostat: Romania Leader in Construction Works

Eurostat mentioned Romania as a leader in Europe in construction works, being one of the countries with a significant increase in 2022.

Construction works registered an advance of 0.1% in the euro area and 0.6% in the European Union, compared to 2021, with the most significant increases being in Slovenia, Poland and Romania, according to the data published by the European Statistical Office.

The Eurostat statistics show that Slovenia (27.2%), Poland, Romania (both 5.9%), and the Netherlands (4, 7%) saw the most significant yearly gains in construction activities, while Spain (minus 10.4%), Hungary (minus 8.1%), and Austria (minus 6.8%) saw the most significant annual decreases.

Following a 0.3% loss in the euro area and a 0.1% increase in the European Union, construction work fell by 1.3% in the euro area and 1.2% in the European Union in June compared to the prior month.

Slovenia (1.7%), the Netherlands (1%) and Finland (0.2%) saw monthly gains in construction activities, while Hungary (-5.2%), Slovakia (-5%), and Austria (-4.8%) saw the worst decreases. Eurostat reports that after increasing by 5.6% in May, construction work in Romania experienced a monthly dip of 0.1% in June.
