World’s Oldest Man Dies at 111 in Romania

The Romanian Dumitru Comanescu, who was the world’s oldest man for a month, died on Saturday, June 27, in Bucharest. He was born on November 8, 1908, and he was 5 months away from living 112 years. The secret for his longevity was, as he stated, the love received from his family, from his wife, from his sons and from his nephews.

He became the world’s oldest man after in May the British Bob Weighton died at 112.

It seems that 111-112 is the age most of the world’s oldest man die at. There are world record holders who die at different ages as well, but most oldest men in the world die at 111 or 112. There are more sources to verify the theory, both open sources and the Guinness World Records website.

Three days before his death, Dumitru Comanescu received the Patriarchal Cross from the Romanian Orthodox Church patriarch, the highest decoration of the Romanian Orthodox church for laymen.
