COVID-19: Romania to Vaccine 13 M People in the Next 6 Months

Romanian authorities announced their plan to stop the pandemic at the national level: in the next 6 months they hope for 13 million Romanians to take the vaccine to get immunized to COVID-19. The announcement was made on Friday by the coordinator of the vaccination campaign, military doctor Valeriu Gheorghita.

In the first 6 months we will immunize 13 million people, which offers us the perspective of getting a percentage of 65-70% of immunization for the general population.

According to the strategy, the vaccination campaign will have three phases in Romania: in the first phase the medical personnel will be immunized, after that people from the risk categories and only afterwards the general population.

In Romania the vaccine will not be compulsory and will be taken only by those who consent. The first doses might be arriving in the EU in the beginning of January.
