Bucharest in Top 25 European Cities of the Future 2020/2021

A ranking published by fDi magazine, a service from Financial Times, unveils the top cities and regions for investment for the 2020/21 period and Bucharest ranks on #22 by overall ranking. Also, Bucharest ranks on #7 by tech criteria, making it the Central & Eastern European city with the highest score by technology level.

Bucharest stands on 22 in the overall ranking just after Barcelona, Stockholm and Cambridge, but before other cities, such as Copenhagen. In its latest edition, fDi magazine, published by the Financial Times, has unveiled Europe’s top cities and regions of the future for 2020/2021 under the motto “The Best and the Brightest Among Europe’s Investment Destinations“. It seems that the efforts of the local administration along with the local entrepreneurs has rewarded Bucharest with a place in this most coveted top.

The annual list published by the magazine covers a total of 505 locations, 319 cities and 148 regions and ranks them in a wide range of categories, splitting them up by size and administrative type. The Bucharest’s performance is, from this perspective, even more remarkable.

This year’s winner: London

The best city of the future for 2020/21 as ranked by fDi magazine is yet again London. Despite Brexit, the United Kingdom’s capital has retained its spot as the top preferred destination for investments. London is closely followed by Paris and Dublin, with the French capital having quickly gained steam and risen through the ranks over the past few months. Furthermore, Paris Region has also taken the top spot in fDi’s ranking for European Regions of the Future 2020/21.
