Rumor has it there is a chance that the Romanian ruling party will choose a different candidate than the one who is currently on the first place in the political polls. The future candidate of the governing party will be elected by the Social Democrats at the congress of the party.
Romanian sociologists consider that there is a difficulty in identifying the best solutions for the governing party to secure the transition to the second round of the elections because it faces strong opposition. There are several candidates who have expressed their wish to candidate, including Şerban Nicolae, Gabriela Firea, Mihai Fifor and Mr. Tăriceanu( the President of the Senate) as a possibility of the alliance.
Political annalists are skeptical about the chances of the governing party to enter the second round of the presidency, claiming that not even a candidate like the famous businessman would enter the second round if he is supported by the major party. Nobody could help the party at this point, and that is a signal that indicates a problem of legitimacy.
