Almost 190,000 Romanians in UK apply for pre-settled status

Almost 190,000 Romanians in the UK have registered for the new post-Brexit status. According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Romanians are the second largest community to submit applications for the new status.

Romania supports the efforts of the EU negotiating team to continue the dialogue with the British side, in an attempt to identify viable proposals that will allow the process to move forward.

In order to continue to benefit from the rights currently enjoyed, it is mandatory for all Romanian citizens living in the United Kingdom to register and obtain the so-called special status – settled / pre-settled status, preferably as soon as possible. After the date of withdrawal, Romanian citizens who do not live in the United Kingdom will still be able to enter the kingdom without a visa, with their passport or identity card, for short visits, up to three months.
