FTSE Russell promoted the ranking for Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB)

Bucharest Stock Exchange was promoted to the status of Emerging Market by FTSE Russell, the famous British provider of stock market indices. This is quite an accomplishment for BVB whose blue-chip index BET gained 25% this year, in the first three quarters.

Bucharest Stock Exchange is now more attractive to foreign investors and the promotion to the status of Emerging Market is seen as normal in Bucharest, as the Romania’s economy has grown in a very fast pace in the last 3 years. Romania is in top 3 fastest growing economies in the European Union, after Poland and Hungary.

Even if the representation of the Romanian economic sector is not at its peak on BVB, the potential investors still can find some attractive companies there, both from the public sector and the private one, including OMV, BRD Societe Generale and Transilvania Bank, the largest Romanian bank.
