Japan includes Romania, along with other 37 countries, in a trial for a finding a treatment for the new coronavirus. Thus, Japan sent 12,200 tablets of Avigan (Favipiravir) to Romania, a drug developed by Toyama Chemicals.
The tablets are enough for the experimental treatment for 100 Romanian patients. The results from all the countries where this drug will be experimented are to be analyzed for taking a proper decision regarding its medical efficiency.
Romania is also trying to develop a vaccine, by its own. Doctor Virgil Paunescu, from Oncogen clinic, claims to have obtained positive results with a Covid-19 vaccine, whose clinical testing and potential development is to be financed by the Romanian state.
