Covid-19: Green Pass Becomes Compulsory in Romania

Romanian authorities introduce the obligation for individuals of showing a green pass certificate for entering indoor spaces such as restaurants, theaters, or private events.

The decision was taken by the Government on Thursday, September 16th, and it is compulsory on the entire Romanian territory.

The obligation enters into force in all the localities where the COVID-19 infection rate is more than 3 per thousand inhabitants in the previous 14 days.

Basically, the authorities forbid the entrance in scuch spaces or the attending of such events for the individuals who are not vaccinated, who didn’t prove they have been infected and recovered, or who don’t show a negative test for Covid-19. All these should be proved by showing the Green Pass certificate.

At the moment, the vaccination campaign in Romania barely persuaded 5 million people to take the jab and the country is second to last in Europe when it comes to the vaccination rate.
