COVID-19 Vaccine Ready to be Tested in Romania

Since the announcement made by Dr. Virgil Paunescu from OncoGen Timisoara, who claimed to have found a COVID-19 vaccine, lots of people hoped for the coronavirus vaccine be mass produced as soon as possible. The big news has just come up: the Covid-19 vaccine is ready to enter the testing phases in Romania.

The first phase is the testing for toxicity, which Dr. Virgil Paunescu hopes it could be started and accomplished, on volunteers, in a few months.

The COVID-19 vaccine is ready and at the moment we test it on cells. We can’t use it, though, until we get all the approvals. It has to pass three phases of tests. Hopefully, in 2-3 months we will be able to conduct the toxicity tests on tens of volunteers. If everything goes well and the results are good, we’ll get to the second phase. Probably, we’ll have it mass produced by next year

The COVID-19 vaccine is to be partially financed by the Romanian state. Thus, Romania becomes the single Eastern European country to start testing its own COVID-19 vaccine and it joins the other countries worldwide who race for finding a vaccine for the novel Coronavirus.

By next year, depending on the results of the tests conducted by tens of countries, the world could potentially have more than one choice as an efficient vaccine against the novel Coronavirus, including a Romanian COVID-19 vaccine version. In normal conditions, a vaccine completes its testing phases in a period of around 1 year. Due to the extraordinary circumstances we pass through, the drug agencies are prone to simplify and speed up the procedures, which could save months of testing and save millions of lives.
