David Popovici, the Romanian swimming wonder, has just become Olympic Champion. He won Gold for Romania in the 200-meter Freestyle at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Popovici won the 200-meter freestyle men’s final on Monday evening, July 29, with 1:44.72. His performance increased his record-holding and swimming world champion status in various events.

Popovici entered the final with a 1:44.52, the best time in the semi-finals, and successfully won a dramatic race. He has accomplished an incredible 1:44.72 in the final, with the runner-up getting a 1:44.74, only 0.02 seconds behind Popovici.

Popovici started stronger, but his opponents soon reached him. However, he swam better the last 100 meters. He recovered inch after inch, and just when the race’s last meters approached, he got in front of Matthew Richards, the British swimmer, and Luke Hobson, the American finalist.
