At the request of the Prime Minister of Romania, the Ministry of National Defense has prepared all 11 military hospitals under the Medical Directorate to provide medical assistance and treatment for the wounded soldiers in Ukraine.
Also, starting on Sunday, February 27, at 12.00, the Blood Transfusion Center of the Medical Directorate will be opened for blood donation to benefit the wounded soldiers. The center will operate every day, between 8.00 and 14.00, for all those who want to donate blood for this purpose. Donors will be expected at the specified time intervals.
At the same time, based on the requests received from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Romanian Government approved, on Sunday, February 27, a decision regulating the emergency donation to the Government of Ukraine of material goods related to ammunition and ballistic protection equipment provided from the surplus of the Romanian Ministry of National Defense.
The value of the ammunition elements and the 2,000 ballistic helmets and 2,000 bulletproof vests with protection level III-IV donated to the Ukrainian army is around two million euros.
The donation of equipment is a necessary element of logistical support for Ukraine’s efforts to repeal the aggression of the Russian Federation, which was launched on Ukrainian territory on February 24.
The transmission of these materials to the Government of Ukraine is part of the general efforts of NATO and EU member states to support Ukraine in defending its territory, independence, and state integrity against the aggression of the Russian Federation army.
