Romania recorded the second increase in the European Union regarding the participation to the European elections with a percentage of 19%, after Poland (22%), and the proportion of Romanians who think their voice counts in the EU has increased by almost a fifth in the last Monday, according to the Eurobarometer results after the European Parliament’s more popular elections.
The Eurobarometer was conducted in the weeks after the elections, with almost 28,000 citizens across the European Union answering questions about their participation in the European elections and about what motivated them to vote.
According to the poll, the participation of young people in the elections has increased by 50% compared to the 2014 elections, in which the general vote was 50.6%, the highest since the 1999 elections (49.5%).
