Romanian athlete David Popovici won his second gold medal at the European Junior Swimming Championships U-23 in Otopeni, near Bucharest on July 6.
After winning the 200 M Free event at the World Swimming Championship in Budapest and the gold medal in the 100 M Free event, Romanian athlete, David Popovici, is the sensation of the moment in water sports.
At only 17 years old, he breaks records and wins competitions in a row. David Popovici competed with Lorenzo Galossi and Jacob Whittle (Great Britain) at the European Junior Swimming Championships U-23 in Otopeni, Romania.
The Olympic Swimming Complex Otopeni (18 km north of Bucharest) hosts the European Junior Swimming Championships from July 5–10, 2022. 494 athletes representing 42 nations are competing.
Popovici won gold in the 50 m, 100 m (with a world junior record), and 200 m freestyle events as well as silver in the 4×100 m free baton at the Junior European Championships in Rome last year.
