Romania Closes Airspace to Russian Airlines, Russia Takes Similar Measure

Romania decides to close its airspace for any Russian airliner. The measure entered force at 15.00 hours on Saturday, February 26.

Immediately after that, Moscow took a similar measure and closed its airspace for all Romanian airplanes. Rosaviatsiya, the Russian Federal Agency for Air Transport, called the decision of the Romanian authorities as being ‘unfriendly.’

Romania is not the single European country to take this measure. Poland, the Czech Republic, and Bulgaria closed their aerial spaces. Russia took similar steps for each of these states and closed its airspace for national aircraft coming from the respective countries.

Meanwhile, NATO forces continue to come to the Eastern flank, including Romania, to deter any aggressive intention of the Russian troops to NATO members in Eastern Europe.
