All the Romanian counties entered the green scenario after the infection rate for COVID-19 drops below 1.5 per thousand inhabitants in the last 14 days all over the country. This is why, from May 15, masks will not be mandatory in the outdoor spaces, except for a few particular situations: while waiting in the public transport stations, while in the open markets, or other crowded spaces alike.
Also, there will be no night curfew starting from Saturday night. Besides, fans will start coming back to the stadiums, up to a certain percentage of the stadium’s capacity at first.
Bucharest, the Capital city, maintains a favorable evolution, below 1.5 per thousand inhabitants, due to the best vaccination rate in the country. According to the coordinator of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign, Bucharest reached a 34% vaccination rate.
Moreover, if the population under 16 years of age is taken out, Bucharest reached a 40% vaccination rate among the population over 16. This explains the good evolution of the pandemic in the Capital.
Other cities are also competing to get a good vaccination rate. Among them, Cluj-Napoca, in the West of the country, but also Sibiu, in central Romania.
The vaccination campaign in Romania took a good turn after the authorities decided to enter the communities with drive-through vaccination centers and vaccination caravans. Besides, the vaccination marathons organized in the country proved to be successful.
So far, in Romania, there were vaccinated 3.7 million persons with at least one dose. The target of the Government, as mentioned publicly by PM Florin Citu, is to reach 5 million people vaccinated by June and 10 million people vaccinated by September. Only after the first target is reached, the Government will start the big relaxation in Romania, as promised.
