Romanians living in Spain will have dual citizenship soon. This is what governmental sources told the local media in Romania. Apparently, the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, will arrive in Romania at the end of January to sign the agreement between the two governments.

Sources say the two parties have already agreed on the document’s final version.

The initial discussions occurred in the fall of 2022 when a joint meeting of the Spanish and Romanian Governments was organized in Spain. At that moment, the Romanian part asked for the Romanians living in Spain to be allowed to have dual citizenship.

Currently, the Romanians in Spain who want to get Spanish citizenship must give up their Romanian citizenship. After the two governments sign the agreement, they will be able to get a second citizenship without giving up the Romanian one. Also, they can get jobs, such as in the Spanish Army, administration or police with their dual citizenship.

So far, this privilege of dual citizenship was offered only to French and Portuguese nationals.

Unofficially, more than 1 million Romanians live in Spain, while around 600,000 have residency. Romanians form one of the largest communities of foreigners in Spain.

TouristsGoRo is one of the most brilliant PR campaigns aiming to bring tourists to Romania. And it’s not even a state initiative but a private one.

The context is simple: Spain suffocates with tourists each year. As Barcelona locals say, nobody speaks Catalan or Spanish on La Rambla, their most famous boulevard, but it’s a tide of international tourists.

There are documented studies on over-tourism in Barcelona. It is simply overwhelming for a city with only 1.6 million inhabitants to have more than 32 million international tourists yearly.

While tourism can benefit local communities or countries, mass tourism damages the city. Places are overcrowded, large queues everywhere, from tourist attractions to restaurants or public transport, and locals are unhappy. The very proof is the walls in Spanish cities, covered with hate graffiti, telling tourists to go home or to leave the city alone.

“Tourists go home” is only one of the slogans used to protest against mass tourism, but others can not be published here.

This is when Electric Castle, one of the most appreciated festivals in Romania, entered the spotlight. Their PR team hijacked all the messages on the wall and asked locals to join the efforts in sending tourists to Romania.

Basically, the Electric Castle team registered the domain touristsgo.ro. Then, they registered all the domains corresponding to the slogans on the walls and redirected them to touristsgo.ro. Then, they campaigned among the locals to popularize this movement by simply displaying touristsgo.ro on their T-shirts and the entrance to their shops or restaurants.

Not only that but stickers with .RO were distributed to locals, and they were encouraged to place one sticker at the end of any slogan on the wall, such as for anybody searching for that slogan to understand that it is a website. When searching online, tourists are redirected to the main website, encouraging users to learn more about the Electric Castle and Romania as a country.

As a comparison, while Barcelona suffocates each summer, Bucharest is relatively quiet and welcoming. Bucharest could be a travel destination for worldwide tourists, and Bucharest attractions could prove equally attractive to those who haven’t yet been to this part of Europe.

We also do our part on this news platform and encourage international travellers to visit Bucharest, one of the most underrated destinations in Europe. Check the below Bucharest travel guide, and maybe you find inspiration for your next international trip.

Nicusor Dan, the general mayor of Bucharest, asserts that a Spanish builder who operates in the city’s heart obtained permission illegally. According to Dan, no action was taken to investigate the alleged accusations despite notifying the law enforcement agencies. So far, Bucharest Mayor hasn’t offered the name of the company blamed in his speech.

It is not possible to have a Spanish investor working in the middle of Bucharest without legal authorizations and with expired licenses. Neither the City prefect, the prosecutor’s office, nor the State Construction Authority, although notified, took action. Now I ask you: would a Romanian investor, if he went to work in the center of Madrid in these conditions, be let to act like this?
Nicusor Dan, Bucharest General Mayor

The General Mayor of Bucharest accused the Spanish investor of building with demolition permits obtained illegally and expired for more than six months. He draws attention to the responsible institutions in Bucharest that were notified but did not intervene.

Nicusor Dan mentioned that many permits had been issued for a building of flats in a bourgeois area.

How was it possible to get fake authorizations in Bucharest, and how will other incidents of this kind be prevented in the future? It remains ambiguous, with no suspect or culprit identified so far, as it sometimes happens in Romania. On the other hand, any allegations should be immediately investigated, and from this perspective, there is no excuse for the lack of communication from law enforcement institutions.

No, they don’t play against a Romanian team and it’s not a friendly game or something similar either. It’s just their game against Chelsea, the London based rivals. According to Marca, Diego Simeone, the Atletico coach, chose Bucharest as the first option if Spain doesn’t lift the travel restrictions from UK until February 23.

It’s not the first game to be moved away because of the pandemic, though. Before Simeone’s announcement, it has already been confirmed that Liverpool will meet RB Leipzig in Budapest, before the return leg at Anfield.

So, Atletico could play its clash against Chelsea on Arena Nationala – National Arena of Bucharest instead of Wanda Metropolitano, their famous stadium. But how did Simeone take Bucharest into consideration?

Bucharest is a lucky city for Atletico and Diego Simeone cannot forget his 2012 UEFA Europa League final against their rivals from La Liga, Athletic Bilbao, played in Romania’s capital. The Madrid team won with 3-0 after a spectacular game.

This time won’t be the final, but still, an important 16 tie game to help them move to the quarter-finals. Who knows, maybe Bucharest will be their lucky city again.

Romanian cities of Timisoara and Cluj-Napoca, both located in Transylvania, Western Romania, are included in this year’s Top 20 Healthiest Cities to Live in the World by the management consultancy services British company DOT Zinc Ltd.

The top was published on the company’s website, money.co.uk, and the Romanian cities stand on 15 and 16 respectively. The top took into consideration criteria such as the obesity rate, pollution rate, food prices, life expectancy and sunlight hours.

DOT Zinc ltd Top 20 healthiest cities to live in the world

Valencia took the top spot and Madrid the second. No surprising here, though, as Spain has one of the lowest obesity rates in Europe, low pollution rate and exceptional healthy food, let alone the sunlight hours.

Firstly, this city has the ideal climate. It’s not too hot and not too dry, so there is plenty of greenery to provide clean air. Valencia also has lots of sunshine, so you can easily absorb that all-important vitamin D needed to keep your muscles strong. The sea breeze helps to blow away excess pollution in the air and their diet is also well balanced. Valencian paella is a great representation of their diet. Their famous dish has excellent nutritional value from fresh produce, is low in fats and high in omega-3 and protein from the fish.
Motivation for placing Valencia on first spot – DOT Zinc ltd

Also, though behind Timisoara and Cluj-Napoca, Helsinki, on 17, has the cleanest air in the world.

Spain also took the top spot when it comes to the healthiest countries to live in the world. Romania, though having two cities present, didn’t make it to the Top 20 this year.

Top 20 healthiest countries to live in the world

Pablo Cortacero bought DINAMO Bucharest Football Club. The transaction was confirmed on the official page of the club.

DINAMO Bucharest finally got rid of its major stakeholder, the former owner Ionut Negoita. Lately, he refused to finance the team anymore and offered his shares for 1 Euro, with the condition the new owner would also pay the club’s debt.

DINAMO Bucharest fans started one of the most dramatic attempts to save a football club: they set up an association formed by DINAMO supporters and offered membership cards for certain sums of money. The money collected by the supporters, through the program they named ONLY DINAMO BUCHAREST, helped the club pay the salaries to the players for a couple of months, but also helped the club with a part of the costs for obtaining a new Liga I licence, the first Romanian football league.

Pablo Cortacero bought the majority stake in the club through a company registered in Luxembourg, Benel International SA. His conditions for buying the club were both met only in the last month: the club should have remained in Liga I and the club should’ve got the licence for playing the in first Romanian football league.
